normally a high biting point is the sign of a worn clutch, but it may not slip.

the noise you can hear is probably the release bearing, but you wont know for sure until you take the box out - it could be that the relase bearing is weeping, which might explain the pedal feel if air is in the system.

does the clutch pedal ever go to thew floor and wont come back of its own accord? have you noticed any fluid on the floor where you park it?

i've never done a clutch on this car so cannot help any more
