Pistons should have an appropriate clearance for the bore, on a typical 80-90mm bore it will usually be a couple of thou on a standard engine and double that on a forged turbo engine.
Rings have an appropriate clearance as well, normally in the 15 thou or so ballpark on a similar sized bore.


You cant increase the size of either one without altering the other as the other would end up far too loose.
