Well you connect all your equipment like sky hd, blu ray, xbox etc to this onkyo, it then uses just one hdmi cable to your tv saving on cabling up the wall, it then powers all your speakers for 5.1 surround sound and uses all the true hd signals etc for that quality sound. It does shit loads more but thats basically what it does.
