The Phase 1 Zetec se 1600 has a metal cam cover, the phase 2 a plastic.
Even engine's with 'zetec-s' written on the cam cover are actually 'zetec se' engines, designed in collaboration with Yamaha. Such a shame they all have the same problems.
The phase 1 metal cam cover engines are different from the phase 2's, the same engine never the less but still both have differences, Mazda designed them in collaboration with Yamaha, thats why Mazdas have the exact same engines.
