when my bros car went wrong we took it in local garage with best diagnostics gear, they said ecu needed to be reset & it had 2 get sent off to be done, a week later it came back & car was ok. (£70 all in)

cant see why you cant buy a 2nd hand ecu from breakers/ebay for £10-20 & plug it in thou as not coded like newer cars
