I can't see why you'd want to hold off telling the DVLA the new engine number in your case, it keeps all the records straight and whether it's a 2.0 with a carb or 2.0 with a turbo, supercharger and NOS makes no odds to road tax on your car.

I have just sent my Firenza log book off for engine change, lets see what they say about 6000cc.. haha!
