Oh no I don't disagree there at all. It's simply some people's attitudes about 70mph is too slow, it NEEDS to be 80mph, everyone would get there quicker will just simply not be true. The only time it is beneficial to be doing such speeds is on a clear run stretching by a very good length of miles. Otherwise it won't matter if you do 50mph or 100mph.
Ive just got to the outskirts of london, as I do at this time most sunday evenings having left somerset at 9:30 ish.
Would definately benefit me being able to drive along the M4 at 100mph instead of 70mph.
My point wasnt really that I think the speed limit should be increased though, just that I think if an MP is going to be making any plans based on the crash, it should be about the causes of it, which speed wasnt as far as im aware.
It seems like road safety ONLY means speed to most people, and thats actually a very small part of it in reality, by focussing on that we miss all the REAL issues, like correct spacing and driving to the conditions etc.
