You can get away with up to 10% now supposedly but that is an unofficial law. IMO if you are doing 82-84mph (to allow for some speedo error) in an 80mph speed limit you should be done for speeding. Additionally, you don't actually need to be going faster than 80mph. I rarely give it the beans on the motorway and generally hover around 70mph sometimes less. If you want to get there quicker LEAVE EARLIER

The standard of driving in this country is absolutely shocking at best. One end of the scale you have the utterly scared shitless twats who lane hog, don't follow proper conduct and generally are a complete and utter liability due to the fact they are crapping themselves behind the wheel to the absolutely moronic, kamikaze, ignorant, selfish wankers who don't give a hoot about their fellow driver and drive with such stupidity I actually hope they hit a lamp post one day because it might actually stop them from driving like a twat and God forbid into somebody else.
