Jesus another thread with no replies. Well not on my watch, best places to start off are induction and exhaust. Something like a k&n can be had for about 70-80 quid is always a good start, then get yourself a cat back exhaust system, and if possible maybe a four branch exhaust manifold. A very cheap way (free) to make it quicker would be to remove weight, as much as you want. You don't have to go to the extreme of having a race car style interior, just things like the spare wheel (replace it with a can of tyre weld), parcel shlf and boot carpet. Basic things like that can make a bit of a difference. Another route could be to lower the unsprung weight of the car (thats the weight not supported by the suspension components) like replacing the factory wheels with a set of lightweight motorsport style wheels.
