Default great news on the new car!

hi all,

just recieved this e/mail from ANDY ROUSE comfurming some more of the sierra rs500 history.

Hi Martin,

The French car you have has a good history, it was built in 1987 for the World championship but because we had funding for only one car it wan't used. However it was run by us in the Spa 24 hours and finished in fourth or fifth place, driven by Semoulan and Pajera.

It then went to Bathurst that year, which was part of the World championship, and was entered by Alan Moffit in ANZ Bank colours. It started the race from pole position, and I have a picture of it leading into the first corner. I drove at the start and led for the first 30 mins until the gearbox gave up. At that time we did not have the heavy duty Getrag gearbox for the more powerful RS500 engine because the homologation had not go through.

That car was then used for the French series in 1988 driven by Alain Ferte and me and we just missed winning the series outright but won our class.

The wheel rims were the right ones and the repair job to the ICS car is almost finished.

Thanks for your help

Regards

Andy
