i wouldnt you will probably make it look worse.
you will struggle to get a even cover and to do a whole car would take LOTS of paint and lacquer and at £5-10 each it would soon mount up.
cheepo garage would be sub 500 i would think its no too much for a decent job.
also doing most of the prep you self would maybe help with the overall cost.
