White quadrant, mk5 pedal. You should be able to remove ALL the slack from the cable. Make sure you put a nut on the end of the adjusting bolt other wise the bolt will slip down the side of the white quadrant and give a slack cable.

The spring should go from the pedal to the pedal box to hold the pedal down a little better.
