The de-gas pipe runs from the header tank to the stat housing, it's the other thin hose (Not the one you have seen coolant coming from)

Just because there isn't Mayo on the cap is NOT conclusive proof of a HG as it depends on the location where the blow is. A sure way of telling is if it's loosing coolant?

Cap is a cheap thing to try.
