Default Mk1 Capri - Cossie YB Advice Needed...

Morning All...

First time poster here.. Looks like a very good site...

I am currently using my Mk1 Capri for drift days and having some good fun, but would fancy a few more ponies….

I am running a 24V Cosworth V6 at the moment, with a 3.77 Final Drive in an Atlas Inc. LSD. I am happy enough with my suspension (Coilovers, 300 Llbs Springs, Eccentric Top Mounts, and Adjustable Bottom Arms) and a Caprisport 300 Brake Kit…

I am now giving serious consideration to fitting a Cossie YB for the extra grunt… Hoping the less weight will help the handling as well.

Option 1. There is a friend of mine selling a complete package from a 4WD Sierra, unfortunately, he has not heard it running and it has been sitting on his workshop floor for the last 4 yrs. He bought it in good faith from a guy who said it was running.

Had a look at it last night, it appears to be a June 1990 200 Block with a 4x4 Head. When i tried to turn over the engine manually, the crack would turn about 3/4 of the way around and then stop. It sounded like the crank hitting the sump (Big Winged Sump). We tipped the engine back on the big winged sump, and the engine then turned fully, but i could still feel the crank hitting the sump.

Secondly, the head was fitted with yellow injectors while it was running a turbo with a 0.60 housing... Looked huge... The Turbo shaft had some play in it as well.

Plug 1 was removed but i could not see anuthing in the cylinder...

Option 2. Another friend is selling a 2WD package for small money, but it looks like it broke a timing belt as their are marks on the piston where the valves have come in contact....

Option 3. WAIT for another engine/package to turn up for sale

I know this email maybe a bit vague, but i would appreciate any comments / advice PLEASE....
