If it helps at all, I had this very same scenario with my 2.0 tdci mondy, Just this weekend I put a new clutch and flywheel in and the noise has gone.

My thrust bearing and DMF were both shagged, so unfortunately I can't tell you which was causing the noise. But if you're going in there anyway, see if you can track down a DMF testing tool to see if it's bust. But to be honest you can sort of tell from the way it wobbles wether it's worth replacing.

Clutch, Flywheel and Thrust bearing for me set me back £520, not cheap!
