Question Interior restor.

Hey guys, right got S2 turbo and I'm needing a pair of
door handle's the ones that hold the e/window buttons
but I can not find a good pair anywhere,
all the ones on flee bay look just as scabby as mine so I've
decided to take them off and spray them myself.
Is this a good idea or not do I need any kind of special paint?
