it's all based on money, a 2009 high value car is worth a lot less as a cat-c to the insurance company, thats why most proformance cars end up cat-d, and run of the mill mondeo's, vectra's and the like are cat-c, even if its fairly minor/panel damage, have a look at the copart website,
