The 4wd head has smaller chambers and the pistons have larger dishes I believe as when I rebuilt my 3 door I fitted 4wd pistons as it lowered the compression a little think maybe 2wd pistons and 4wd head may give higher compression than ideal. Only early 2wd pistons have central gudgeon pins all later 2wd pistons and 4wd ones are offset.
