if you have metal particles rusting on the surface of the paint, the last thing you want to do it polish the car, you will be dragging the metal particles all over your paint and creating microscopic scratches which will effect the clarity of the paint, you should clay the car first to remove all the contaminants an bits of metal and only then should you polish it
