I'm looking between £7-9k for the new motor, erring towards a Mk 4 Mondeo after reading all the views on here TBH as nothing appears bullet proof, though my own experience with the current motor shows otherwise. If it didn't have 134k on i'd keep it a while longer cos it all still works perfectly!

I ran a mk 2 Focus 2.0 TDCi for a year or so (the wifes car) and found it as dull as shit, the fuel economy was terrible compared to the Mondy, how is that possible on the same engine? Mate had an 07 C Max from new with the same drivetrain, again, shite fuel economy.

Our current 07 S Max (2.0 TDCi) is different again, returns 47 mpg average and managed 43mpg towing the Cossie to Bedford and Donny earlier this year.
