Default Fiesta RS1800

Hi all, this is my first time on here. I have had my RS for almost four years now and its superb allround car, when I first picked it up from the garage and drove it home down the M6 a big smile came across my face as I eased that pedal down, boy does it pick up from 70mph and therein lies my question. I just wish it had more pick up low down, my old XR2 had more kick in 2nd gear although the RS will out run it. Low down its just too smooth for its own good and with the tall gears this doesn't help. I have added a Mongoose exhaust and a replacement Pipercross air filter and hope that would at least have added a wee bit of sharpness, but no it just sounds better and a small increase in top end maybe, it will do 62mph in 2nd all nice and smoothly without fuss. So any advice for low down tuning please, the car runs always very well, is it worth having it checked out, should i add a power boost valve, a better air fiter than Pipercross, I don't want to add an external filter which is why i prefer the replacement type not on view then, all looks normal under bonnett etc.
Thanks.
