my cossie went for its mot the day and failed on emissions

the garage has turned it down by the ecu screw since then it is firing out smoke on boost or reeking of petrol on idle the down side tho it seems to stuter if you lift off then put your foot down or if your pulling away from the lights. the car running greys. has anyone had same problem. and what co and hc do you run???? thanks
