It can be done, but as said the torque, or rather sudden rush of it will likely kill it first time with decent boost.
I used one on a n/a pinto of 180bhp, and tbh that did not have any trouble in 4 years of abuse, but no sudden torque rush.
Don't bank on a build costing £250-£300, depends entirely on what's wrong, the parts cost for mine was nearly that alone, ended up costing me £580.
