Just make sure it's well serviced and it should be fine. A trip on a rolling road will tell you if everything is as it should be.

Tests have shown that aftermarket panel filters are no better than the Ford originals once the get a bit of dust in them. Just replace the Ford one regularly and it will flow quite nicely.
