My Son bought a Megane Tdci that had similar symptoms, turbo failed, engine overran, everything had over heated.
We swopped the engine, but also found some of the missing oil in the intercooler, some more of it in the exhaust and the water expansion tank was blown up like a balloon.

Make sure whoever swops engines cleans out the intercooler.
