You're right, this super dooper high pressure is all crap on 95% of cars, I use a std pump.
It's complete and utter bullshit to qoute pressure without stating what oil and temp these are at, as these will DRASTICALLY change the pressure, std pressure is fine, the engine builder who I use for machining and parts has been using std pumps with std pressure even on it's race engines, but he's only been building them personally for 54 years, some of the race pintos with different cranks are doing nigh on 10,000rpm with std pumps.
Too high a oil pressure saps power, as the oil pumps is driven and also raises the temp of the oil more making it thinner, dropping the pressure over what it would be with cooler oil.
Ford quote 1.4bar at 850rpm, and oil of 20W50 at 80C, and 2.4 bar at 2000rpm, if you want more pressure simply put in a thicker oil, bit easier than the above!!
