my wifes 2.0 tdci mondeo chucked a rod in april, I paid 250 quid for an engine and swopped the short nose injectors for log ones (I bought a pre facelift engine 01-03 the car is a 53 plate) and paid 130 quid to have the injectors fitted and coded, 80 quid on oil filter gaskets etc the car runs better than it ever has done in our ownership now!
changing the engine was a ballache tho!
proves it can be fixed on the cheap..
