I'm still a bit stuck as some diagrams Ive seen say that they are earth pins yet others say they are connected to injectors

.....confusion?
The 2 end ones, nearest the passenger window for want of a better description, are the ECU earths and arguably two of the most important wires on the ECU. They carry the injector current and the ground for the entire management system. When they cant pass current, everything slows down and starts to read wrong. It is very common on L1 and 6, less so on L8, and I have never seen it on P8.

The ECU wont report any faults as it cannot diagnose high resistance on wires, only open circuits and CPS PS timing errors. please just replace the pins.
