i was looking at which engines to put into a kit I was going to build some years ago, spoke to a lot of people regarding this engine, even pinto specialists. I also stated that I would be wanting to chase the magic (at the time) 200bhp figure. Going the pinto route envolved a huge cost, especially when trying to keep it reliable, steel short motor, custom cam, modified inlet system (mentiond a wierd carb setup at the time). Basically for what I was after which was a reliable n/a engine they steered me towards the vauxhall red top/coscast or the zetec. Both were easy to get up to 200bhp with just the main addition of a manifold, tb's and standard internals. This was the best for me as the engine isnt getting to stressed and was still reliable
