WRONG!
My line had been activated and the modem light was still flashing, i moved the PC into all the rooms and tried it every phone socket, it eventually connected in the kitchen! (main socket btw)
So, its probably the phone socket or cable thats not compatable.
im lucky my uncle works in BT
he run a new cable from the main socket to the spare room and it was all 100%
