Why do you need a fusebox out of interest?
If it's a 1600 then it's a big job to change to the larger engines as they bare no resembleance to what you have fitted already bar the name, the Sigma and Zetec-E range of engines are completely different, the inlet and exhaust are on opposing sides to start with, you will also need different suspension as they are heavier in addition to whats mentioned.
Best advise is to tune the current engine or sell the car and buy the faster car outright, personally I don't see the point in making a car something it isn't when there is an easier option but of course thats just my opinion.

I was just adviced to change the ring around the barrel, never questioned it

Also fusebox is part of the engine bay loom as far as I'm aware.
I am fancying chucking a 1.7 Puma engine in mine but I havent got a clue how to adapt the wiring.
Although I have thought about getting rid of the VCT and using the 1.6 management and loom and getting it remapped?
