He might have lit them up straight from the pump Rick?? ...aiming to apex the exit perfectly and fade over to the outside of the lane before executing a textbook negotiation of the upcoming roundabout.... all thanks to the centre of gravity being that much lower given his lightweight black CSL-style roof.

I'm not saying this is what happened, but it's far funnier to speculate and invent different scenarios.
