I actually work in an aluminium extrusion factory as a quality engineer.
Part of my role is tensile testing the aluminium we make.

If you can get a 6081/6082 you will be fine. If you can get someone to use a portable hardness tester on the material you have. If you can get an engineering company to use this and get the brunell results I can give you a rough indication of what alloy it is
