Is the arrow that's cast into one of the holes on the auxiliary pulley wheel anything to do with the timing or is it irrelevant where it points to as long as the rotor arm is lined up with the mark on the dizzy housing? I can't really see any marks that the arrow should be pointing to although in the manual it appears that it is used as some sort of reference position.
The mark on the auxilary pulley wheel is irrelevant, it's the rotor arm that must be in the correct position, if the dizzy aux pulley mark doesn't line up it doesn't matter and won't affect the engine running.
Just line up the r/arm so the "path" it points to is dead centre with scribed line on dizzy body top.
