Yes if running a BD16 inlet you will need to have valve pockets, you can get these machined cheaply into your pistons.

If you can use a 200 block, 6 long studs, multi layer steel head gasket, ported head would be nice, if not use a ported turbo shroud. A GT3071 .82 would give you good results on either! Don't make the compression too low, standard 8:1 is nice.

Use a standard exhaust cam, BD16 inlet would work well at this spec, you will need double valve springs, newman ones don't need to have the head machined. Pistons may not be suitable depending on the compression they will give, remember you'll loose a bit by having the valve cut outs too!
