There are pro's and cons to both methods, ultimatly flocking would give the best finish, but the prices above seem very very reasonable, you need to make sure the adhesives being used are correct in terms of durability and temp. I alot of adhesives loose their properties when subjected to a bit of heat, although they regain them once cooled down it is too late when they have delaminated from the roof.

If you do try yourself, test the glue on another object and see what the viscosity is like of it, if its too thin let it flash off a bit till its more of a tack consistency, this will remove the risk of print through, believe me its so easy to bugger up a job right at the last minute, you could lay down the majority of the roof then right at the end the glue could be a tad too wet and print through the fabric. And I can tell you the colourfull language generated from such an incident is shocking!!
