unplug the cold start valve, airbox off, when someones cranking it over, hold the metering flap down about 1-2mm it should fire up if its turning over fast enough, are the dash lights dim? do they dim when turning it over? is the battery light staying on when it starts? if it idles so high when it starts turn it down a bit (idle screw on right side of throtle if ure facing it) it may ju sneed to idle for a few secs till it warms up, mine will cut out if revved when jus started from cold, when heats up its fine....jus a thot. whats the ignition timming set too? shld be 12degrees with vacum unblocked BTDC or 14 degrees BTDC with vacum blocked (or vice versa) this wuld also play a part in it not starting, i know ure saying its not turning over fast but check that also if i were you id get a brand new battery, if still nothing, renew ALL engine earths and battery earths and alternator/starter wiring.....an take it from there
