I remember 2 serious car fires in particular, funnily enough at japfest iirc a few years back where both cars caught fire on track (zensport scooby and an rx7 drift car) and both, imo as well as people i was with were dealt with very poorly by the marshalls who despite being nearby made no rush whatsoever to get to the cars, and in both instances the driver of the car ended up running to the side of the track for a fire extinguisher themselves!
I was only commenting in jest and i do realise the marshalls are there as a labour of love rather than as a job as such though

I had a fire on track, and the marshalls flagged me down to tell me I had a fire (it was under the car and we couldnt see it from in the car so didnt know it had happened) and they were straight over to deal with it as soon as I stopped after seeing them flag me down, so they do seem to try and deal with it. But I believe that their policy is of flesh before metal, so if there are still speeding cars on the track they wont rush to get over to the track and tackle a fire before those cars are slowed down by the flags and lights etc unless there is someone actually trapped in it as they dont want marshalls to risk their lives just to save a car from fire.
