They showed me a pic of one they fitted today, and it fitted perfectly! After 10 years tucked away, I just want to drive the bloody thing!!

I had the same problems but got it solved by using a slimline rear plate which eliminates the hex head bolts and instead uses countersunk bolts which sit flush with the rear plate and gives you the necessary clearance.... got the parts from a guy called "silvercos"
