Sounds ace, must admit always found the french friendly, used to drive through there every week, on my way to germany, belgium, holland etc, though french customs at the hover port(many years ago now!!) could be quite picky sometimes.
I just don't get the give way to cars coming ONTO the roundabouts, rather than our uk way, which imo works much better.
French ladies are nice, esp Vanessa Paradis!!.
