Default '03 Fiesta clutch problem

Hi,

My wife has just called me saying the clutch is on it's way out on her car, it has the 1.3 duratec engine NOT the 1.25 zetec.

The clutch pedal just goes to the floor and then next time it's OK.

I don't even know if it's a cable or hydraulic clutch. If it's hydraulic then I guess it could be low on fluid but if anyone has any other suggestions I'd appreciate it. I did check the fluid a week ago when I serviced it and it was fine...

When it works it's OK, no odd noise or anything like that, just the pedal goes to the floor..

So things to think of :

low fluild
slave cylinder
master cylinder..

She's gonna call me later when she's back at the car and I just want to have a few things I can ask her to check before she trys to get home.

I suppose my main concern is that if it's losing fluid and it's a shared reservoir with the brakes then at some point the brakes may fail..

are these like the focus with the slave cyclinder mounted inside the bell housing ??

Any input appreciated.

thanks
