He told you wrong, no where near as simple as that(what he told you), any angle the air has to turn tends to slow it down, the sharper the angle the more it slows, the closer the trumpet to the cover the sharper the angle, but there shed loads more to consider in flow terms, a change of cam will upset the perfect set up, as this is very inlet tract length dependant for ultimate results, a shorter tract tends to give better top end, longer better mid range etc, some designs are just bad, like the cossie 2wd and 4wd imo, could have been a lot better, but I think ford were caught on the hop a bit with the whole cossie scene, a lot of the car was crap to be honest as performance cars go, but that was more to do with penny pinching by ford bosses.
