Check the wiring under the fusebox - its a coont to get at (you might be able to see it sticking your head up under the dash with a small torch in your mouth). I bet you have a bunch of six or seven wires all melted and fused together. This happened on my old efi XR3 which had the same symptoms as you describe. I just waited until summer then sold the b*stard.
