Default Zetec Engine Identification, mixed 2.0 and 1.8????

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and joined as i've been a lover of Fords for quite a while now. I started racing a Mk2 fiesta at the age of 13 and since had Mk2, Mk3 fiesta's, a moderna green Mk2 escort, and now just brought a Mk4 fiesta which is going to be a road legal track day car.

I'm basically after some information about who's done what with the Mk4 fiesta's etc. I've built a custom front subframe for the car using the original wishbone mounting subframe with other parts. It effectively runs Mk2 fiesta bottom wishbones (caster bar and TCA) but shortened with Mk3 fiesta hub and strut. The top of the strut mount has been modified to lower the suspension location point by 2 1/2" roughly. Overall the front ride height is around 6" lower than standard but bottom wishbone is pretty much flat so should keep the original geometry change (camber) through corner.

The rear is currently standard rear axle but using Mk2 fiesta front strut coil overs (4" shorter with adjustable damping and ride height). This is all connected to the rear axle with some custom made brackets but overall pretty simple to convert.

I'm now at the stage of identifying the engine etc which i've brought. It's out of a MK2 XR2 which i brought 2-3years ago. It's a 2.0l silver top zetec with 16v zetec stamped on the rocker cover. I'll be running an LSD from a RST fiesta Mk3 which the front subframe is already converted to accomodate.

So i was stripping down the engine (believed to be 2.0l) and it turns out the head is from a 1.8 RS1800 and the cams look like RS1800 too. The ECU has the code 92FB 12A650 BC and runs alongside the EDIS 4 module setup but i'm trying to work out what mix and match was made with the engine. Has anyone heard of a an RS1800 with 20 stamped on the block or do the 2.0 have the same stuff as the RS1800 head and inlet etc wise? The throttle body measured 56mm, inlet manifold has 928F 9425 LE with SO stamped on it. Red injectors with B1C on them and exhaust manifold has 928F 943 JB.

From the limited knowledge and research i've done, i'm guessing its a 2.0l engine with the head and sump etc from an RS1800 bolted to it? Is this a common thing for people to do or not? Also the cambelt had one of the small idler's missing (one which bolts to the waterpump). Is there any reason for doing this as i imagine it must alter the timing slightly? or has it just been dangerously forgotten by whoever did the work previously?

Any help on any of this would be greatly appriciated. I'm new to this so not sure how to upload photos but if someone could point me in the right direction i'd be happy to upload engine photo's etc if this will help?

Thanks very much
