I've seen 2005 '05' Focus Ghia's on a garage forecourts for £4500 - £5000, so thats a good price.
I'd also steer clear of a diesel unless the mileage you are doing negates the cost to MPG differential between petrol & diesel. Plus Diesel's are more expensive to buy than their petrol equivalents.....
In an earlier topic similar to this I recall someone pointing out that the modern Diesel engine will suffer from a whole range of costly problems if not 'used' properly such as dpf's, Duel mass fly's, injectors, fuel pumps etc etc etc, which will be more costly to repair if go wrong than a decent petrol. i recall someone mentioning that injectors on a TDCI 130ps are circa £250 each at a main dealer
if your doing circa 20,000 miles + per year, then go for a diesel
If your 'averaging' 6000 - 12,000 miles per year get a petrol, a decent mk2 1.8.......as you wont make any savings from fuel economy....
