There's few carbs with vac secondarys fitted to fords, but I'd bet yours is the either the 28/30 TLDM, or the 28/30 DFTM.
As it is running ok, I can't see it actually consuming that much fuel, maybe it is leaking elsewhere, if the vac sec was stuck open it would run like a bag of poo, I would first check if the power valve system diaphragm is perished.
A decent carb set up well is not a no no by any means, some carbs are even fitted to CAT cars, not as accurate as efi, but I'd have a carb over mfi any day of the week.
