Default Cam timing - what do you do?

Im just about to set my basic cam timing. The inlet is a newman BD16 and the exhaust is the std.

According to this info on the newman cams homepage: http://www.newman-cams.com/pdf/fordcosworth.pdf the BD16 inlet shuold be set at 105 degrees and the BD8 ex. (wich i have been told are the same as std.) shuold be set at 110 degrees.

I tried today with my std. cam pulleys, and the readings were 122 degrees on the inlet and 107 on the exhaust. So the ex. are pretty close but the inlet are wat off. But thats allright, i have vernier pulleys. Just took a measuremant with the std. pulleys for a control test.

I know the right way to do it would be to get it on the dyno and adjust them contempoary with getting a live map. But thats not a possibility - yet.

My question are, what do you guys use as a base setting? Would it be best just to set the cams as the directions says on the chart = 105/110 or would it be better to set them to 112/112 for an example? To get the inlet within the reccomended 105 degrees i have to move the pulley one tooth on the belt and then adjust it. Which is no problem, but maybe a bit unusual?
