Not the same, no. But if you're fitting a Zetec into a MK3/4 Escort, you have to modify one of the engine mount bolt hole locations anyway, so if you're fitting a black top instead, you'll just have to modify it slightly differently as far as I'm aware.
Then you need to sort out the auxillary belt run, as the water pump spins the other way, but there is a kit to do that, depending on whether you want PAS or not.
