Do NOT use an Escort RS turbo manifold unless it's fitted WITHOUT drilling and tapping. Whether that be by using an adaptor plate, or welding on a new flange. They piss oil and work loose. Anyone that did an early ZT conversion this way knows it was shit after a little while (me included

It's a combination of big power and revs. Revs alone do not kill them, they can rev past 8500rpm with no failures when N/A. It's the cylinder pressures which seem to wipe them out but a low power (300bhp ish) Zetec turbo will never see a pump failure IMO. No matter hopw hard it's driven. I gave mine DEATH for 2 years and 10,000 miles with no problems what so ever.
