Yes there are good and bad valves, good condition original ones are a very good option as they are high quality in the first place.

I'd do the drive if I were you, its worth it to get the car running right.

Standard rods should be fine if they are in good condition.

Get a WRC gasket, not worth messing around with anything else now they have come down in price.
